The constitution of the ASIA COMMITTEE of The International Council of Hides, Skins and Leather Traders' Associations was officially announced by Mme Zhang Shuhua at the 1999 Annual Meeting of ICHSLTA in Hong Kong.

Mme Zhang Shuhua is Vice President and Standing Secretary General of the China Leather Industry Association.

The Asia Committee have set out their OBJECTIVES :

• The establishment of a sound organisational set-up to promote the work of the Asia Committee in admitting members from the Asian countries and regions;
• to participate in the revision work of the international contracts and their translation into Chinese;
• to publicize their work in the various professional periodicals of the leather industry in China and through the medium of their own website
• to promote trade negotiation between world buyers and sellers through various conventions and international leather fairs sponsored by the CLIA.
