Apply by August 17, 2025

The Interstitial Cystitis Association (ICA) is seeking applications from knowledgeable, engaged, and inspired volunteers to fill positions on its Board of Directors, where they will lead, advise, and support the ICA's activities for a three-year term.

The ICA’s Board of Directors addresses its fiduciary and strategic duties, led by the officers and the executive committee. The ICA currently has three standing committees – finance, fundraising/communications, and governance. The full Board meets four times annually of which at least one meeting is conducted in-person/face-to-face in conjunction with ICA’s annual visit to Capitol Hill.

The ICA Board of Directors oversees the administration of the ICA, exercises financial stewardship over the association, determines the annual budget, establishes and enforces the organization's policies and procedures, and sets the strategic direction. The Board addresses its fiduciary and strategic duties, led by the officers and the executive committee.

Established in 1984 to give a voice and put a face on those impacted by this complex and challenging condition, the ICA is the only nonprofit, charitable organization dedicated solely to improving the quality of healthcare and lives of people living with IC/BPS in the U.S. The ICA advocates for IC/BPS research dedicated to the discovery of a cure and better treatments, raises awareness to ensure early diagnosis and optimal care with dignity, and serves as a central network for healthcare providers, researchers, and the millions of patients who live with chronic pain and urinary urgency and frequency.

IC/BPS is recurring pelvic pain, pressure, or discomfort in the bladder and pelvic region, often associated with urinary frequency (needing to go often) and urgency (feeling a strong need to go). IC/BPS can affect anyone; more than 12 million men, women, and children in the U.S. alone have IC.
